Faustino Ennio Petrella's life began in the small town of Petrella Tifernina, Italy on February 15, 1924 to Nicola Petrella and Maria Grazia Petrella (née, Giarrusso), the 6th child of 10 children. Faustino, or "Fausto" as he was affectionately known as, finished school after the fifth grade, and went to work to help support his large family. His strong work ethic was a dominant characteristic that would span the rest of his life.
